Setting Up Your Royal Oaks Email Account in Mozilla Thunderbird

If you do not have a Royal Oaks email account or do not remember your password please contact the Royal Oaks IT Department before completing the setup process to reset your password. The phone number for the IT Department is (623) 815-4221.

To begin, double click the Thunderbird icon to launch the program. This icon will be located on your desktop, or in your All Programs menu on the Start button.

 

When the program launches close any windows they may pop up after you open the program. After you close the pop up windows you should be at the Thunderbird home page or at your Inbox. Along the top of the window you will see the File, Edit, View toolbar. Click on TOOLS on the tool bar and then click ACCOUNT SETTINGS.

The Account Settings window will come up and you will need to click the Account Actions button and then Add Mail Account. Make sure there are no other accounts listed in this window. If there are other accounts in this window, click on them to select them, and then click REMOVE.

On the Mail Account Setup screen that comes up enter your first and last name, email address, password, and check remember password. When the form is filled in, click CONTINUE.

After Thunderbird has attempted to fill in the account setting click EDIT.

Change the USERNAME to your full email address, INCOMING server to POP, the PORT to 110, and select NONE. After the settings are changed click RE-TEST CONFIGURATION.

Click CREATE ACCOUNT.

If you get a warning check “I UNDERSTAND THE RISKS” and choose CREATE ACCOUNT

Once the account is created, the Account Settings screen will come up. Expand your mailbox and choose Server Settings and then uncheck the box to LEAVE MESSAGES ON SERVER.

Next click Outgoing Server (SMTP), click on the email account in the right hand window, and choose EDIT.

On the User Name line enter in your full email address.

 

 

Your account is now setup and you can click OK to exit.

Now you can click GET MAIL to test your account settings. As long as you DO NOT receive an error, the account is setup correctly.
